Welcome to Britizen. By accessing or using britizen.app, our interactive tools, or any related applications (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Not Legal Advice

Britizen provides reference information about the Life in the UK Test, British citizenship, Indefinite Leave to Remain, and related immigration topics. This information is for educational purposes only and is NOT legal advice.

UK immigration rules change frequently. Test content, fees, and eligibility rules can be amended by the Home Office at any time. We do our best to keep information current and cite official sources, but we make no warranty about the accuracy, completeness, or applicability of any information on the Service to your specific situation.

Always verify current rules at gov.uk, contact UK Visas and Immigration directly, or consult a regulated UK immigration solicitor before making any decisions based on information from the Service. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of your immigration applications.

2. Not the Real Test

The Britizen practice test is based on the official Life in the UK handbook but the questions are NOT the literal questions on the real Home Office test. The real test pulls from a secret, unpublished question bank. Performance on Britizen is a strong predictor but not a guarantee.

3. Use of Interactive Tools

The Service includes interactive tools (practice test, eligibility calculator, pass-mark calculator, test-centre finder). Output from these tools is based on inputs you provide and current published Home Office guidance:

  • Eligibility Calculator: Estimates timelines and costs based on standard Home Office routes. Your case may have factors the calculator doesn't model (overstays, dependent visas, complex immigration histories). Use as a starting point only.
  • Test Centre Finder: Information is compiled from the official lituktestbooking.co.uk listing. Test centre details (opening hours, locations) can change. Always confirm on the official booking page before travelling.
  • Practice Test: Question bank is based on the official 3rd-edition handbook. We make no guarantee that knowing every Britizen question means passing the real test.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
  • Interfere with the Service's operation (e.g., scraping at volumes that affect performance, DDOS, etc.)
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service
  • Republish content from the Service without our permission
  • Use the Service to defame, harass, threaten, or otherwise harm others

5. Intellectual Property

The Service's content (text, design, graphics, software, trademarks) is the property of Britizen or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. The official Life in the UK handbook is Crown copyright and is referenced (not republished). You may not reproduce, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without our written permission, except for personal non-commercial use.

6. Third-Party Links and Affiliate Disclosure

The Service may include links to third-party sites and products, including the official gov.uk booking page, immigration law firms, and bookseller links for the official handbook. Some of these are affiliate links: if you make a purchase through them, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We only link to providers we believe in. The Service is not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BRITIZEN AND ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE — INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY IMMIGRATION, FINANCIAL, OR OTHER LOSSES THAT MAY RESULT FROM YOUR RELIANCE ON SERVICE CONTENT, FAILED IMMIGRATION APPLICATIONS, OR FAILED TEST ATTEMPTS.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Britizen and its affiliates from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.

11. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
