Short version

You can use Britizen entirely anonymously. The practice test, calculators, and guides require no signup.
If you join the waitlist, we store your email to send launch updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising.
We use basic web analytics to understand which pages are useful.

What we collect

Information you provide

Email address — only if you join our waitlist. Stored with Resend (our email service) for sending launch updates and unsubscribe handling.
Support correspondence — if you email us, we keep the email thread so we can respond.

Information collected automatically

Standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages visited. Used for security and to detect abuse. Retained for ~30 days.
Analytics — we use privacy-respecting analytics (page views, referrers, broad geographic location). No cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles.

Information stored locally on your device

Practice test answers and scores — stored only in your browser's local storage. We don't see them. Clear your browser cache to remove.

What we do NOT collect

No location data beyond rough country-level analytics
No microphone, camera, or contacts
No social media login data
No cross-site advertising identifiers

How we use what we collect

To send waitlist emails (only to subscribers, only about Britizen)
To improve content based on which pages are useful
To respond to support requests
To detect and prevent abuse / spam

Who we share with

Resend — our email service provider. Stores email addresses for sending and unsubscribe handling. Resend privacy policy: resend.com/legal/privacy-policy
Hosting provider — our website is hosted on a standard cloud provider. They see the same server logs we see (IPs, request paths).

We do NOT sell or share data with advertisers, data brokers, or third parties for marketing purposes.

Your rights (UK GDPR)

As a UK-based service, we comply with UK GDPR. You have the right to:

Access your data — email support@metellusproductions.com and we'll share what we have
Correct inaccurate data
Delete your data — we'll remove your email from the waitlist on request, immediately
Unsubscribe at any time using the link in every Britizen email
Object to data processing
Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)

Cookies

Britizen uses minimal cookies — essential cookies for the site to function, and analytics cookies for understanding which pages are useful. We do NOT use advertising or tracking cookies.

Children

Britizen is intended for users 18 and older (the Life in the UK Test is taken by adult immigration applicants). We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.

Changes

We may update this policy. Changes will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date.
